What’s Up? posted by Tim C. (guest BFF) comments (4)

Architecture can move you in a number of ways.  So how do you view it?  In this crazy ass example, it’s from the ground up.  Check the creativity via various skyscrapers in Hong Kong.  It’s texture.  It’s movement.  It’s about letting your imagination go.

Coastal Binoculars posted by Tim C. (guest BFF) comment (1)

A kickass coastal residence in Nova Scotia, Canada with a unique layout both inside and out.  The exterior of this place is just fresh.  From the water the design portrays this glorified pair of binoculars.  A setting so amazing that you’d just want to sit there and peer out at the natural surroundings.  It’s a genius design element.

Inside, they’ve take these two cantilevered tubes and broken them down into a day and night time living quarters.  Crazy volume and a ton of natural light.  Each pod has it’s own balcony as well.  One for the great room and one for the master suite.

Linking the two main element together on the back side is this third core unit.  Home to the foyer and kitchen, this provides the views down the coastline.

School Time posted by Tim C. (guest BFF) comments (2)

School is in session – Kindergarten style.  A design that’s wide open, durable and full of natural light.  A little gem for a bunch of nuggets full of high energy.  It’s a nice fresh take on school architecture.  A bit unconventional but it has character.  It’s warm and it’s creative.

Spanish Throwback posted by Tim C. (guest BFF) comments (2)

Here’s a little taste of the Spanish ’60′s if you’re looking for it. It’s the Chic and Basic Ramblas in Barcelona. Dig it. This place is so well done. The designers (Lagranja) provide you with a little sampling from various issues that dominated this particular era. Each corridor tells a story. A little culture, a little fashion, a little food and some great style. Simple unique design ideas (stacked luggage front desk), glorified pieces (old Spanish currency table) and loud colors provide the journey and history lesson.

Wood Boxes posted by Tim C. (guest BFF) comments (7)

A client with a crazy busy lifestyle that loves to entertain collaborates on this open-ended design. A series of boxes clad in mahogany and travertine allowing plenty of natural light as well as providing just enough privacy when necessary. A design where you can see or be seen throughout.

How about the perspective look?  A killer design element. Mahogany wrapping the floor, walls and ceiling. They continue the clean mahogany lines in the kitchen as well with the wrapping of the cabinets.

And on the lighter side a travertine cooking alcove with some fresh backlighting softens the kitchen space.

Floating posted by Tim C. (guest BFF) comments (4)

A design to showcase the owners love of boats and sailing. A statement piece for sure as well as an engineering gem. The sheer mass and geometry is of this place is awe inspiring. I love how this badboy appears to rise out of the site and simply hover or float so effortlessly. Concepts that start with passion, continue to push and finally put out a kickass product.

Swing Set posted by Tim C. (guest BFF) comment

What to do with a 100 foot fallen poplar tree? Turn it into a swing set, of course. The fresh, creative firm of Visiondivison took this bad boy, re-purposed the entire thing for the Indianapolis Museum of Art and dropped it in their 100 Acres park. A killer idea and such a cool piece. The overall vibe is almost surreal and I love that the look of the kiosk, wrapped in the compressed bark from the tree.

1959 Chevy Viking posted by Tim C. (guest BFF) comment (1)

A vintage makeover and such a killer use for a classic piece of machinery.  The transformation of a 1959 Chevrolet Viking Short Bus.  Reminded me a little of this throwback.  This fine little nugget comes complete with plumbing, electrical and a crazy interior vibe.

A full, customized remodel with inspirational details taken from the 1960′s.  A little help from some local boat craftsmen and this distinctive space started to take shape.  A full blend of loud colors, patterns and beads.

The before and after exterior.  She cleans up nice!

A funky addition to any office.  They call this pod the Pumpkin Room.  The perfect place for that quick 5 second meeting or brainstorming session where you kick ass all day long.  A steel grid outlining this pumpkin shape is clad with polycarbonate, transparent panels and lit with fluorescent tube lighting.

Welcome! posted by Tim C. (guest BFF) comment

Check this massive, creative statement.  How fresh is this?  I love a good entry feature and the designers at Matharoo Associates did not disappoint here. They’re calling it the Curtain Door as it mimics that flow upon entry.

40 sections of Burma teak delicately carved and stacked between the concrete walls.  A bad ass composition showcasing movement, textures and patterns.

CLOUD HOUSE posted by Tim C. (guest BFF) comments (2)

The cloud house. The architects answer when asked by the client to respect the existing facade and character of the surrounding neighborhood.

And so they did just that. A traditional style on the front half that starts to ramp up a little with the fresh, floral pattern carpet.

A subtle way to lead you to where the “cloud” addition begins. The red kitchen. The transitional piece to the addition. The gathering place. A vibrant, wide open space designed for entertaining and showing off the creative design.
