SPOOKY FLARE posted by Chris comment (1)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. I just love that for one day you can be anything you want and it’s totes okay. My first costume that I can remember was when I was 5. It was one of those plastic super hero numbers that you get at the drug store. I wore it prolly for six months. I was a bit chubby back then so I was seriously bursting it at the seems! But, I had to share this hi-larious pic of me from the 90′s… When I was 23yrs old. I was dressed up as an Invansion of the Body Snatchers pod person (note the brew and ciggies tucked away – Whoops). And that’s my friend Lulu dressed at Jem (truly outrageous) and Kitty, we was the mad hatter. Anyhoot, I thought I share some fun deets about the “must see” Village Halloween Parade that’s going on tonight.

NYC 33rd annual Village Halloween Parade commences tonight (Halloween, Oct 31st) at 7PM. The parade starts at Spring Street and goes up 6th Ave to 23rd. It’s a totes freak-fest that you won’t want to miss. Have fun, be safe and STAY SPOOKY!

I do hope you enjoy then! xxoo, Chris

Teddy bears RULE!!! posted by Keith comment (1)

Am running late this morning. Had some errands to run: the bank, picking up laundry, stuff like that. When I stopped at home there was a note from Chris. He wrote, “Can you look for Teddy in the laundry and make sure he’s okay? Please send me a quick email about him.” We accidentally threw Tedz in the laundry bag with all the bedding and OMG, it’s sooooo cute how worried Chris has been about him. Yes, we’re in our thirties and still sleep with teddy bears. Teddy bears are COOL!

holidays are almost here. posted by Keith comment (1)

While we’re busy getting the store all ready for the Holidays – our ’06 gift guide launches on Wednesday – we’re also decorating the apartment for the season. Yeah, maybe it’s a lil’ early but we’re only gonna get crazy busy later and, to tell you the truth, I am in the MOOD. Chris thinks the stores have started Xmas especially early this year but I’m like, who cares!

fTunes posted by Chris comment (1)

I can’t even believe my eyes. Delza (our Podcast producer out in LA) just sent Keith and me an email showing how the Fred Flare Show is being featured front and center on the Podcast homepage of iTunes. Delza was so cute, she was like “this it the equivalent of being on the cover of the New York Times of Podcast”. Check us out, right there next to USA Today! WOW! I’m just really stoked that iTunes is starting to notice us more and more. It’s exciting to be acknowledged for something that you work really hard on! Thanks iTunes!

I hope you all are enjoying The Fred Flare Show. A huge shout out to all our new viewers and a giant thank you to all you die-hard fans! We have some really fun new episodes on their way… But until then, Stay Cute! xxoo, Chris

I heart Diane posted by Keith comment (1)

Spent a good deal of the afternoon working with Diane in Shipping. Had the best time! Back when fredflare.com first started it used to be just me and her in the warehouse all day long. We weren’t so busy back then so a few afternoons we even cut work early and went for a walk in Central Park. Those were great times!

Today we started our interviews for a gift wrap helper for this coming Holiday season. Diane had never interviewed someone before so we did little rehearsals beforehand. I’d knock on the door and she’d greet me and say, “Welcome to our company!” It was the cutest thing ever.

I was of course making silly jokes during my mock interview – Diane asked about my work history and I went on and on about this imaginary cheese shop I used to run – but the truth is I’d practically kill to have that job. Diane is everything to me. When she quits, I am outta here!

american’s next top flare posted by Chris comments (4)

OMG, Keith and I were coming home from a business meeting this evening in Midtown when we spied the December issue of Seventeen. I always kinda freak out when I see the first December issue… It just means Holiday is, well, HERE – no joke!!! Anyhoot, the cover is really supes cute… Paris Hilton is posing with this adorable white “sad-face” kitty surrounded by bling! I bought the issue ’cause we’re supposed to have some products featured in it. I was sure that they got cut, but then I totes saw both products in their Gift Guide… The plaid punky britster clutch AND the bestie necklace set. They look really cute.

Then I was flipping around when I saw the spread that the Top Models shot. It was actually in last night’s episode. It was Melrose’s reward for winning the “sexy walk on the dinner table” challenge. She brought the twins and poor Brooke (who got sent home the day of her high school graduation – BOO!). So, I’m like staring at these girls, telling Keith how we just watched this shoot on TV last night and then he’s like… What’s that twin wearing?!? My eyes popped outta my head, ’cause sure enought Michelle, the “gay” twin is wearin our “Apple Of My Eye” necklace. This by far made my day! I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning. It’s like a brush with fame… Now, I totes hope Michelle wins. I love those twins. I was so excited the whole way home and I couldn’t wait to tell Vanessa, Julie, Sammy Joe and Amy back at the office! This is a really good sign for a HOT Holiday season to come! xxoo, Chris

P.S. We just checked inventory and there’s only 17 of those necklaces left… Isn’t that weird?!?

P.P.S. fred <3's America's Next Top Model! Go Tyra!

WE THINK You’re TOPS! posted by Keith comments (2)

 at fredflare.com

This e-blast that’s going out today marks the debut of Blanche, our latest supermodel. We had fallen so behind on model shots – we call ‘em “mod shotz” here for short – on all the clothing items that we thought we’d try photographing some clothes on a mannequin. I think it helps a lot, gives you a much better idea of what things will look like on.

Of course we’ll still shoot stuff on real people too. That’s super fun. Today we’re photographing some accessories on our new Shipping manager Jen. She’s incredible! You’ll be hearing more about her soon. Is she the next Employee of the Month perhaps? Whoops, there I said it. Congrats, Jen!!

Here’s some behind the scenes from today’s shoot. I started by just shooting Sam our photographer and Jen but then it turned into a portrait festival of everyone who’s in the office today, and I mean everyone. Sorry Blanche doesn’t have any clothes on… We try and dress her in cute outfits cuz the boys in shipping complained that having to look at her all day naked made them uncomfortable. Ha ha ha!

Blythe love posted by Keith comment

Yesterday Lauren, Chris and I went to Gina Garan’s studio to interview her for the podcast. Had a really great time. She’s amazing! If you’ve been living under a rock somewhere and aren’t already familiar with her and her adorable BFF Blythe definitely check out thisisblythe.com

The interview won’t be ready for a bit but I think you’ll enjoy it. First of all, her collection of dolls is beyond beyond! The three of us just stood there and marveled at all of Gina’s friends, our eyes nearly as moon-eyed as theirs. I’ll try and post some pix soon from the interview but, in the meantime, here are some shots Gina took of Blythe wearing a fred flare tee. Thanks, Gina!!!
