I am so excited to announce that TODAY is the official start of our annual NEXT BIG THING contest! This is one of my fave projects of the year where we put out the call to YOU, awesome customers, to submit your creations for possible sale on this here website. It’s always such a BLAST to discover what you supertalents come up with and I can’t wait to see what you have for us this year!! Yeah, you have a good six weeks or so to get your entry together but why wait? I will tell you that a number of last year’s winners were entries that came in the first week… So go for it!
I hope to use this blog to keep you posted on some behind-the-scenes fun related to NEXT BIG THING and I will say there are some AWESOME surprises coming so please stay tuned… For today I just want to give a shout-out to Roxy Marj, a 2006 NBT winner who created the super cute graphics for this year’s contest. Thanks a million, Roxy!
Um, okay, one more thing. How does $1000 sound? This year we’ve added a fun new twist to NEXT BIG THING… As usual we’re gonna select a group of 27 of our faves and do an exclusive shop and some special promos and stuff but we’re also gonna have a customer poll to select the “fred fan fave” and the winner is gonna WIN $1000. I’m very excited about this part!!

Oh Wolfgang! He may have Beyonce and Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend doing the #3 soon! Wolfgang, who recently catered a celebration for B’s cover of Sports Illustrated, just found out that one of his prep cooks has tested positive for hepatitis A. There’s been no reports of illnesses yet, but the Los Angeles County Department of Health recommended vaccinations for anyone who ate uncooked food at the party and three other events from Feb. 14-20! I guess this would fall under the extreme dieting category, even for all the supermodels that attended… YUCK!

Posh could have her own reality show on NBC real soon! Vikki Posh’s camp has reported that the former Spice Girl is in the works to have her own show… Not about her life with Beckz and kidz (BOO!) but about her fashion business DVBStyle AND her move to Hollywood! OMG, yet another show that I’ll HAVE to watch! Maybe the Spicies would reunite on the show?!?

I’m still so excited and happy for Jennifer Hudson & her Oscar winz! She’s such a great role model for all us underdawgs! I can’t wait to see where her career goes. But even though she won BIG she told Matt Lauer on the Today show yesterday that she regrets wearing Oscar de la Renta’s space bolero jacket. Oh J.Hu, don’t win an Oscar & then diss your Oscar.

Wuz up lovas! I have some groundbreaking news… Paramount has announced that JJ Abrams will be directing the next Star Trek movie!!! Okay, for the few of you that are still reading, the movie is scheduled to be released Holiday of 08. AAAAAAAA! I’m seriously dying over it! I am more of a Next Generation type girl but this is gonna be good. Star Trek XI will be focused on the first meeting of James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock at the Starfleet Academy and their first mission in space. Haloy people! Although I did hear a rumor that major actors are interested in playing roles in the movie which I think is a bad idea, I am still jazzed but hopefully the rumor is false. Okay, trekkers get your Starfleet uniforms on! See you at the cinema!

Did anybody else besides me, Chris, Lulu and Julie watch American Dreams? I really LOVED this retro-tastic show! Meg Pryor was a gem and I loooooved that gaspy goofy look of surprise or disgust she’d have on her face in like every episode. I miss her. And I feel soooo unresolved about how the series ended, with her running away from home on the back of Milo’s motorcycle. What do you think happened to her? I’m worried. Please write home, Meg!
