Whew! I just got home. And Holy moly! What a crazy day! Strange right? I mean, Holiday is ovah! Why the stress? Well, let me tell ya… 1. Mo is STILL on vacay in TX. Yes, I know, it’s ony been two days and he will be back on Friday. But you don’t get it! He’s totally my right hand man! 2. I’m training Danit in customer service (you’ll meet her lates) and she is soooo awesome, but theres SO much to know and SO much to teach! Luckily, I have a great student. 3. DIANE (my work mom) is totes gone for 1 whole month! Today was her last day and I’m such an a-hole! I didn’t even throw here a going away party like I planned. I seriously didnt even realize what day today was! WTF? I love you Diane and I’ll miss you so so so so much!
Anyhoo, we had a super long weekend for x-mas and I finally got the chance to kick back and RE-LAX! (Kind of). My Mom and Dad came to visit for the whole week and totes brought my dog Bull! It was AWESOME! It was actually the bests Christmas EVER. We went to movies, ate yummy food, hung out at fred flare AND Bull came to work for a day! Believe it. It was so funny… He’s such a country-bumkin that he was sooo not in to playing with any city folk (like Mo). Bull even chased Holly (our model) down the street! Here’s a little vid for your viewing pleasure: It’s Mo “hunting bull” and me being totally confused. I don’t think Mo knows I’m blogging this – so that’ll show him to take a vaction! Hahaha! Mega-Exes, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt went head-to-head in the Box Office this weekend with their hawt new flicks. And the award goes to… JenAn! Jen’s puppy love romp, “Marley & Me” took the #1 slot raking in about $37 million where Brad’s magical old-baby dude chick flick, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” took 3rd place with $27 million. Congrat Jen, sarz Brad. 2008 is almost over, and I’m reminiscing about fred’s year. To say it was eventful is an understatement. In fact, I don’t know what word to use to describe our tenth year in business: extraordinary, amazing, crazy, different, special, hectic. I think I would go with ‘challenge’ which it definitely was. I know Keith and Chris are going to unveil the Top 50 of 2008 soon; but I want to note three things that stand out in fred’s life this year. You, dear customers, are responsible for all of them.
Third Place: In an austere economy, you helped us meet our financial goals. With many retail establishments struggling, we so appreciate your support.
Second Place: In October we opened “Store Cute,” our first brick-and-mortar store, in Brooklyn; and you have made it a success too. You came to the grand opening in droves, but you also came to shop there in the days after. We love meeting you face-to-face.
First Place: On December 11, Keith blogged about the flooding of the Cedar Rapid Public Library (CRPL) this past summer. He challenged customers to purchase books from the CRPL’s Amazon wish list. And he promised to sponsor a special charity event if fifty people bought a book for the library. As of Christmas Eve morning, one hundred twenty people had bought books for the library; and Keith had held his special event. It garnered a $5000 contribution to the library’s building fund and eternal appreciation from the residents of Cedar Rapids. You made it happen.
We have the best customers in the world; so as 2008 ends I say thank you, thank you, thank you. And a Happy New Year to each and every one. See you in 2009.

I have the worst news I could ever report today… The most exciting woman in the world, the incredible entertainer, Eartha Kitt passed away yesterday, Christmas Day after a long battle with colon cancer. Eartha was 81 yrs old. I first learned of Eartha from her purrrfect purrrformance as Catwoman on the Batman TV series. But it wasn’t until I heard her singing and her famous rendition of “Santa Baby” that I really got hooked. I’m so glad Keith, Anne and I got to see her on Broadway in The Wild Party, she was capital FEE’UZ! We LOVE you Eartha, you’ll be greatly missed. C’est si bon, baby!

I laughed, cried, laughed again, then cried a little reading and reliving your top Hills moments. The winner of the FF giftie certif is… Carly! In her own words: whoa man…my favorite moment has to be the Heidi-Spencer fight where he gets up and leaves, and she’s like if you walk out that door don’t come back! and he leaves and she’s like SPENCER!!! and she throws the newspaper at the door!!! i tivo-ed it and watched it like 10,000 times!
That wasn’t any old newspaper Heidi threw, it was the book Spencer was reading – Eric Haney’s Inside Delta Force: The Story of America’s Elite Counterterrorist Unit. (He must b part of the Young Republican Book Club…) Oh Spencer, what would we do without your sarcastic putdowns and obsession with loyalty? We’ll find what life’s like post-Spencer… After his bestie broke his heart, can Brody evah luv another homie again? Stay tuned 4 my Bromance Teevz starting Monday 12/29!!
