**WEIRD STORE IN THE MALL NAMED DAZZLES ALERTZ** Like the outdated Brokeback quote Santino bestows to Austin Scarlett on their amazing new show On the Road With Austin & Santino following Project Runway- I can’t quit you, Project Runway. Just for fun let’s pretend this show is still on Bravo…and Watch What Happens! Weeee!! They can’t stop us, they can’t stop us!
Today’s SECRET FILE is super fun… I’ll bet most of you haven’t ever seen these FF gift cards we made for our Brooklyn store. I think they’re real cute. (Sometime soon we’ll try to offer them online but for, for the time being at least, gift certificates are only processed via a code sent by email…)
Well, if you read this episode carefully you saw that Rhonda recently purchased a camera from FF. I can tell you I’m certain she used one of these. (How do I know? Well, you’ll have to read TOMORROW’s ep to find out!)
Anyhow, I thought I’d give you readers a chance to WIN YOUR OWN with this special contest. Stay tuned as we’ll announce the winners on Monday and those lucky ducks will each score one of these special gift cards (worth $250!) that I will personally drop in the mail myself. Good luck!!
Oh gosh, you’re gonna think I have something against Rhonda – Poor thing has lost her mother, she’s all alone in a new town and now somebody’s gonna steal her money – but, trust me, I’m looking out for her in my own special way. Truth takes time.
Inspired by Lucie’s
know NEW-it-all ways in the latest ep of TEEN AGENT so I decided we’d celebrate with a ONE DAY ONLY FREE SHIPPING PARTY! I know I said FREE SHIP was going in the vault for a while but Lucie talked me into it. She’s been loving all your amazing comments. (One of ‘em made me cry yesterday… Elayne complimented our “follow-through”… That’s like the nicest thing you can EVER say to a perfectionist!!) Thanks so much. Enjoy!
Ok, truth serum. If you email Lucie Larkspur for a free shipping code as it says right here, I’m actually the one responding. It’s been SO amazing going back to my roots and dealing with customers one on one again. I LOVE IT. This is what I used to do when fredflare.com began online like eleven years ago. I was THE Customer Service dept.
You know, funny thing, back then we wanted to appear like we were bigger than just CJ and I so we had a couple fake personas, like our Customer Service agent named, of all things… Lucy. She was this character I would slip into and she really helped me a lot. Lucy was SOOOOO nice, killed customers with kindness and oh wow, in my mind she dressed amazing. She also had an English accent.
Anyhow, now I’m emailing peeps as this new character Lucie and it’s been so hilarious. I’ll have to share with you the things that people ask Lucie sometimes cuz they’re so amazing. Usually they just want their free shipping code. (Sometimes they type only the word FREE SHIP or nothing at all even, how rude!) But other times they ask Lucie questions, like… Can you help me find a present for my male friend? Or, my fave… How do I know if the guy I like likes me back? Lucie’s very, very helpful with such matters.
The most popular question, though, is more along the lines of… WHAT IS THIS? I don’t get this TEEN AGENT business. Are you real?? I’m confused. Soooooo, if you’re in that boat, please think of today’s ecard as your primer. Hoping it will explain a lot. STUDY UP, peeps! Cuz we don’t mess around when we say things like “You hold the key.” You can expect some AMAZING surprises and contests coming soooooon….
And, hey, if you have additional q’s, you can always click here to email Lucie:)
Finally! Lucie and Rhonda will officially meet in tomorrow’s 10am installment of TEEN AGENT. So excited to share it with you! Have been waiting for this day FOREVER. This, to me, is the true beginning of our adventure.
Some fun behind-the-scenes things about this first meeting… First, we’d originally envisioned them meeting at a café. You can tell by the storyboard frame that Annie Poon drew above. (She did a bunch of storyboarding for me and they’re so amazing cute. Will try and share more soon.)
But, as I was walking to work early the morning of the shoot I discovered this little playground section of McGorlick Park that I’d passed by hundreds of times but never explored. In it I found all these amazing painted park benches. I felt like this was now where they HAD to meet. I made a Flickr set here if you’d like to peek at my location scouting, ha.
Mentioning this for two reasons. Ok, maybe three. First, I strongly encourage you to mix up your routine. If you take the same way to work all the time, do something different. You never know what you might discover. Second, having a plan is good but improvising is awesome. (I often get feedback at work that I’m like not organized enough and I get it and I really AM working on it, but I also kinda don’t like to plan all that far in advance. I like surprises!)
Lastly, I wanted to say that we should all spend more time in playgrounds. Playgrounds rule. Go to one. They’re awesome. I also am putting my vote in for climbing trees. That’s been on my mind lately. Need to do that before summer’s totally over.
Once the weather cools down, it’ll be safe again to wear black without melting in the sun! The leopard print Peggy sweater is just perfect over a pair of leggings w/ boots when you’re headed off to class or the coffee shop around the corner. And to complete that edgy look, I’d recommend the studded flap blackhearts bag. In fact, that would probably go really well with any of these pieces (See, black goes with everything!). And for fancy dinner dates, the peek-a-boo back Polly dress or crushed velvet Holly dress are sure to make you look stunning! CLICK THE PIX TO PURCH THE MERCH!

Like I said earlier this week, I’ve been working at Store Cute while Bilgin is out and it’s been SO FUN! This morning we’ve already had visitors from Paris, Cape May and Los Angeles! It’s been great! The coolest thing ever is that every person that came in today has commented on my get-up! I’ve been blushing since 11AM! I even styled a girl that came in with her parents (hi Sarah!). I’m serious, it’s a total honor when peeps come by the store and ask for styling tips and I’m MORE than happy to play dress up with them. I figured, since today’s outfit was a hit, I’d show ya’ what I’m rockin’ and give you the ingredients to rock it yourself!
Yes, this picture was taken on my computer… But what was I supposed to use!? Okay, so I’m wearing a tank we just sold out of but there are still lots of options. Anything with a pattern is perfect for this: the polka dot Coco tie blouse, Sherri stripe top or the button back Dolores top all look totally amaze! I’m wearing the boyfriend university sweater and ideally, it should cover your shorts. My shorts are actually a pair of jeans we used to sell, but any old pair will do. I added my fave pieces of jewelry: key to Paris necklace, faux-lex watch: gold and the chieftain ring. The boots are vintage from my thrift store in Ohio but you could totally add a pair of braided Marion sandals for a more summery look.
So what do you think? Are you into it? Would you wear it? Let me know if there are any pieces you love but don’t know how to wear and I’ll totally style them for you! LOVE YOU!
