Again, the flowers outside of our office needs more attention. So I brought out and took pictures of them using our Necono The Cat Digital Camera!
This camera gives a nice over-saturated tones and blows out like a vintage camera. Totally something for the cat/camera lover!

I know it’s the season for lots of travel. Who doesn’t want to escape right? This Mustache Luggage Tag would make a great holiday gift or better yet a simple going away present for the young college hopefuls. This stylish stash will make your luggage pop out on the baggage claim, and make some beardless man jealous.

The life-sized Domo Costume is adorable, I can’t get enough of this set of mini Mustache Magnets, the Dynamo Solar Crank Radio is so tiny and colorful, and Hello Kitty Backpack even has a sequined bow! Our amazing USA Women’s Soccer ladies are moving up the ladder! Saturday they faced off Colombia with a 3-0 win! Minus a little unsportsmanlike conduct on Colombia’s side. This game really became personal while I was watching it. Go Wambach! They are currently going against North Korea today, but I’m sure I’ll catch up on the highlights later.
Go Team USA!

We’ve had a familiar face back at the office (and on the blog!) this summer: Elizabeth, who you may remember as our super-amaze creative intern/ master baker from last year. This time, she’s working with me and the rest of the marketing team, and boy are we so glad to have her. Though, um, where are our baked goods?
Read her super fun interview below! (There will be a quiz.)
Hey Elizabeth! I know you’re in a weird school program – what are you studying?
I’m dual enrolled in a five year program at Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design, studying cognitive neuroscience and graphic design, respectively. I would love to study visual perception, but more likely I will end up as a typographer with an excess of knowledge about the lateral geniculate nucleus
We hear you have an older sister who also goes to Brown.
What is she like?
My sister is the one of the coolest people I know. I’m so lucky to be able to go to the same school as her, and to get to hang out with her all the time! She is very silly and meme-savvy, but also extremely focused and driven intellectually. She is totally going to work for Radio-Lab someday, but in the meantime, she is interning at the Museum of Finance, which sounds weird, but is actually awesome. She is also a great layerer.
How did you start working here?
Well, last summer, I applied to a Fred Flare job post that was looking for a part-time graphic designer by writing a fairly scatter-brained letter explaining that while I didn’t actually fit of the job requirements (college-educated, experienced, anything, really), I loved everything about Fred Flare and would love to work for them. The lovely Keith decided to interview me anyways (Keith’s note: I totes called u Liz cuz your portfolio kicked the ass of most super experienced Joe Colleges…) and I ended up getting a summer internship here creating ads and e-cards and other fun goodies. I’m back again this year to work on the marketing and social team, and I couldn’t be happier! I am basically getting paid to design or to look at pretty things and write about them. Really, what’s not to like?
In addition to blogging here at Fred Flare, I know you also have a personal blog – what do you write about?
Art and design, mainly! My blog is actually a supplement to a bi-annual themed illustration magazine I put out, called Domestic Etch. Both are just a fun way for me to keep track of artists and exhibitions that I’m enjoying, and hopefully, a way to share those cool things with others! I’ve found blogging to be a really great (and non-intimidating!) way to get involved in the art world, and I feel so lucky that people are eager to collaborate with me, and that they take the time to create and submit work to the magazine.
SPEED ROUND…

I know that the Opening Ceremonies were so three days ago and everyone’s focused on sports and stuff now, but I am still obsessing over Queen Elizabeth & James Bond parachuting into the stadium. I’ve always had a special place in my heart for HRH but this? Is beyond. Sorry, Harry. You’ve been replaced as my favorite royal.
What was your favorite part of the Opening Ceremony? The sheep? Million foot tall Voldy? Tim Berners-Lee? Let me know in the comments!

One of my favorite tumblrs, Coffee & the Newspaper, pairs menswear street style snaps with beautifully styled food shots. The photos always work together so well, whether they’re matching color, theme, or overall vibe– no caption needed. I read a lot of menswear and food blogs, and seeing them come together so wonderfully is endlessly inspiring.
The last few weeks I’ve woken up early on Sunday and managed to get a blueberry coffee cake in the oven before the day gets away from me. Blueberries will be in season in New York through early Fall, so I hope that I’ll be able to continue this tradition as the weather cools down. Starting my day with a warm slice of coffee cake and then slipping on the BB Dakota Blue Durango Coat to hit the city streets? Sounds pretty perfect to me.
I do have one last dream, one last piece that would take it beyond: that magical sound of the TARDIS landing, big and little at the same time, new and ancient, and the bluest blue ever… because warm coffee cake, a gorgeous coat, and adventures through time and space? That, my friends, is the life.

I love superheros, in all forms. Comics, movies, action figures you name it. But I have always kind of hated Superman. He seems so boring, you know? He has too many powers, and such a silly weakness, that he’s almost too obvious to be any fun.
That said, the new trailer came out this week for the new Superman movie, “Man of Steel,” and I am trying to be optimistic. It does have Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder on board. What do you guys think? Does Superman look a little grungy for once? Does Amy Addams as Lois Lane have anything on our charming Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy (I’ll give you a hint: probably not.) Watch the teaser and decide!

Look at this beautiful flower I found while on a walk today! It may be nearing the second half of summer, but that doesn’t mean all the flowers have wilted just yet…
