We’ve had a familiar face back at the office (and on the blog!) this summer: Elizabeth, who you may remember as our super-amaze creative intern/ master baker from last year. This time, she’s working with me and the rest of the marketing team, and boy are we so glad to have her. Though, um, where are our baked goods?
Read her super fun interview below! (There will be a quiz.)

Hey Elizabeth! I know you’re in a weird school program – what are you studying?
I’m dual enrolled in a five year program at Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design, studying cognitive neuroscience and graphic design, respectively. I would love to study visual perception, but more likely I will end up as a typographer with an excess of knowledge about the lateral geniculate nucleus
We hear you have an older sister who also goes to Brown.
What is she like?
My sister is the one of the coolest people I know. I’m so lucky to be able to go to the same school as her, and to get to hang out with her all the time! She is very silly and meme-savvy, but also extremely focused and driven intellectually. She is totally going to work for Radio-Lab someday, but in the meantime, she is interning at the Museum of Finance, which sounds weird, but is actually awesome. She is also a great layerer.
How did you start working here?
Well, last summer, I applied to a Fred Flare job post that was looking for a part-time graphic designer by writing a fairly scatter-brained letter explaining that while I didn’t actually fit of the job requirements (college-educated, experienced, anything, really), I loved everything about Fred Flare and would love to work for them. The lovely Keith decided to interview me anyways (Keith’s note: I totes called u Liz cuz your portfolio kicked the ass of most super experienced Joe Colleges…) and I ended up getting a summer internship here creating ads and e-cards and other fun goodies. I’m back again this year to work on the marketing and social team, and I couldn’t be happier! I am basically getting paid to design or to look at pretty things and write about them. Really, what’s not to like?
In addition to blogging here at Fred Flare, I know you also have a personal blog – what do you write about?
Art and design, mainly! My blog is actually a supplement to a bi-annual themed illustration magazine I put out, called Domestic Etch. Both are just a fun way for me to keep track of artists and exhibitions that I’m enjoying, and hopefully, a way to share those cool things with others! I’ve found blogging to be a really great (and non-intimidating!) way to get involved in the art world, and I feel so lucky that people are eager to collaborate with me, and that they take the time to create and submit work to the magazine.
