I am so excited to introduce the newest member of Team BFF! Kelly is one of our super fierce Customer Service Associates, and I knew we were going to be buddies when she professed her love of (bad) puns. Not only is she a CSD rock star, but Kelly has amazing style, rides her bike to & from the office, and is all-around awesome. Read on to get to know her, and leave a comment welcoming her to the team!

Hi Kelly! Where are you from?
I grew up in the suburbs (New York and Connecticut), then went to school in Ohio for two years (what I like to call ‘College, Round 1′). I transferred to The New School after taking an intensive summer program in drawing and painting at Parsons. I’ve lived in Brooklyn for three years now and totally LOVE being able to bike to work here!
What do you like to do in New York?
Everything! I love art and music, so going to a museum or live show is almost always a part of my week. I also enjoy trying new restaurants, especially vegetarian places where I can order anything off the menu. I love getting brunch (or brinner) at Champs, an awesome vegan diner and bakery with a retro vibe. I’m also a big fan of thrift store/vintage shopping. Really, I love the variety of random things the city has to offer, especially during the summer.
How did you start working at Fred Flare?
I remember reading about Fred Flare in a magazine in middle school and loved everything on the site. When I was looking for a job, I checked out the job openings and after taking a look at the blog thought, “I HAVE TO WORK HERE!” I’m so excited I get to spend every day in such a fun, friendly environment.
What else are you into?
In my spare time, I love cooking, baking, sewing, and other arts and craftiness. The most intense thing I’ve cooked lately is a vegan version of Fries Quatros Quesos Dos Fritos (Four Cheese Fries Twice Fried). So messy but sooooo worth it. I also do a little bit of web design and take coding classes whenever I can. Before I moved to the city, I was a competitive horseback rider for 12 years. Sadly, the closest I’ve gotten to one in the past few years was petting a police horse. I fill that void by volunteering for Brooklyn Animal Rescue Coalition (or BARC) and chatting up dog owners in front of stores, waiting at crosswalks…anywhere.
SPEED ROUND
Favorite Music: My most-played list includes Siouxsie and the Banshees, Matthew Dear, The Misfits, and Blondie.
Favorite TV Show(s): Parks and Recreation and Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Favorite Food: PIZZA! Especially homemade.
Guilty Pleasure: 90s dance music. For the past eight years, my ringtone has been the theme song from A Night at the Roxbury.
Wow, I totally volunteered at BARC a couple of times! Sadly, I haven’t been able to for awhile now.
We should do a FF Volunteer thing!
