Today’s NEXT BIG THING has the unique distinction of being the very first baby item we’ve ever carried here on the FF! (Would you like to see more baby and kids items on this site? Pls let us know.) Today we are thrilled to introduce Sheree Daley, a mother of two from Santa Ana, CA. She started up her line of playful pacifier clips only one year ago.
Can you pls tell us what inspired you to make this item?
As a mother of two young children, both passionate about their pacifiers, I experienced many pacifier disasters, like discovering at the grocery store that it was dropped two isles back, or driving home from Grandma’s to frustrated crying because it had fallen and I couldn’t retrieve it while driving.
With the lack of stylish pacifier clips on the market, my oldest child lost far too many pacifiers and I finally broke down and bought the plastic white teddy bear with the blue ribbon and clipped it onto his “fashionable” t-shirt. When my daughter was born, I was determined to find something better suited. Well, I didn’t. That is when the idea hit me. I came home and said to my husband, “I can’t find anything cute, I don’t get it, we need to start a pacifier clip business.” I wanted a way to attach a pacifier to my child’s clothing that was safe, fun, and fashionable. Hence, candy necklace and peas and carrots were born, our two first inspirations for design.
When did this begin?
Bink Link officially launched Spring of 2007. We packed our bags and set up shop in Orlando, Florida at the JPMA show, where big companies and small entrepreneurs pitch their products to small boutiques and big retailers.
How did you come up with the name?
Do you know those “suggested names” at the bottom of the page when a domain name you want is already taken? “www.binklink.com” showed up there when we were searching for something else and we really liked the rhyme… Bink Link Inc.
Can you tell us more about the safety testing on the item? I know that’s a big concern for parents these days.
Yes, there have been a lot of scary reports in the news about lead paint in childrens products. It is scary to hear about recalls from strong brands that we’ve all come to trust. We’d like to assure our customers that we have had independent laboratory tests done on our product to insure that they are lead-free. We insisted that our product be tested by a trusted testing facility to insure that it complies with ASTM standards (American Society for Testing and Materials). We are committed to safety at Bink Link. We have little ones of our own and believe only in bringing safe products into our home.
What are some of your other beliefs?
Natural childbirth, parenting patiently, good design and eating well.
What inspires you?
My husband, children, family, friends & products that trigger fond memories.

comment by Monica — July 2, 2008I have two babies under two years old and I have the BinkLink for both of them. Never has a bead (or anything else) fallen off of the link, and it’s not only stylish but also fashionable. Way to go, Sheree! You got my vote.
comment by Rachael W — July 3, 2008yes fashionable, and I wasn’t a fan of the glitter and blue/pink combo of the “store brand” ones…but I can guarantee, those beads cannot be safe. i would worry that my son would “chew” one off and it choke to death.
comment by ANE — July 8, 2008Don’t know about other babies, but my 15 month old never chewed on any of her binkie straps or clips. I love this idea and I wouldn’t think about my daughter choking on a loose bead. And if she does chew on it and swallows one, shame on me for not watching her more closely!
comment by Sue — July 10, 2008When I first saw this I thought it is a tragegy waiting to happen. Even though the knots that hold the beads appear to be tight, the string could always fray. This is not a good idea unless you use beads so large they would not get lodged in a tiny throat.
