RYE RYE! She’s no ordinary 17 year old; this Baltimore native is M.I.A.’s new bestie and musical accomplice! Have you heard her “Paper Planes” remix? This amazing super girl has already toured with hawt stars like M.I.A., Diplo, and Afrikan Boy. And now, she has her own video for “Shake It To The Ground” (her hit single), which is totally blowin’ up all over the place. We can’t believe you’re only 17! How did you get started?
I just focused and believed in it and just had fun! I recorded and then people were feeling me and started requesting me to come out and rock clubs / shows! I didn’t really expect to become the artist that I did!

We LOVE your remix of Paper Planes! How was touring with M.I.A.?
Touring with M.I.A. was the best! The best people… Real talk, me and the whole M.I.A. crew had loads of fun! It was all like a family road trip! I loved it. But I had some tired moments as well. I’m definitely a stronger performer now because of it all.

What inspires you and who influences your unique sound?
I’m inspired by people who are different, with crazy style, music swag!! I also look up to people who been standing in the gam for a long time! Dance music inspires me! I’m influenced by the people who are also doing my same style of music… like M.I.A., Santogold, Amanda Blank and Spankrock!

Girl, you’ve got it all! What’s your motto?!
I have a few actually… Make your music and have fun doing it! Be fun, creative and different! Eff the Negativity! LOL

So what’s next for Rye Rye?
An upcoming album, YAY! And people will be seeing me a lot now… EVERYWHERE! I’m about to blow up! : )
