Hi all you BFF's I know how much you LOVE up and coming artist with hawt talent and sweet sounds, so of course I thought of you guys when I interviewed the lovely LIGHTS! She's the the cutest indie pop sensation to pop out of Toronto, and she has given us a sneak peek at what its like to be her! The first time we heard Lights, was on the Old Navy commercial. How has it helped people know about you and your music?
Old Navy was the perfect thing for me at the perfect time. They didn't even attempt to change me, they simply presented my music and me for everything I was. Even for my sweet outfit, they pushed Old Navy out of the box to suit my style as opposed to pushing my style more into the Old Navy model. They gave me that platform which enabled the world to see Lights! And everyone there was really nice. It's actually a really great company!
What inspires you and who influences your music?
I am inspired by moments of intense emotion. That is the material that people can relate to, so you have to capture it in its most concentrated form before you lose it. In other words, I write when I'm really emotional, it's hard to be expressive when you're feeling just mediocre. I pretty much just write to cheer myself up most of the time.
You're playing Warped Tour this year! Are you so super excited?
Yeah, it started last Thursday. I had no idea how it would be! But so far it's great, I'm very excited to be here. I heard the sound quality would be crap, but that's the trade off I guess. Lots of people, weak sound!
Describe a typical day for you.
Well my wall of weapons include my keyboard, my guitar, my computer, my marker box. That is my day! I'm always interchanging between these mediums. If I'm not maintaining my Myspace page or lurking or recording or writing songs, I'm playing WoW or making comics. I'm not a complete shut in though! I have a rad pink cruiser bike named Lenny, and we are tight.
What's next for Lights?
My EP is about to be released across the globe this fall, and a full length will be out shortly after, in spring of '09! I also have a song coming out on a Billie Holiday tribute album which should be out the end of this year, and I've done a vocal score (interesting/moving and sort of hard to explain--there are no lyrics just singing) on a beautiful Canadian indie film starring Joshua Jackson coming out this fall. Also, in the fall, I will be embarking on a 30-day Verizon campus tour in the States with Boys Like Girls and Cute is What We Aim For. Busy busy!

FAVE PLACE TO PERFORM: It's been new every time so I haven't chosen a favorite, but I assume I would like playing on a remote tropical island where everyone gets bottomless smoothies and monkey minions for a day.
FAVE BAND: A few all time favorites are Bjork, Phil Collins and Abba
GUILTY PLEASURE: TATU.
WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET: Spongebob. Though, I have a feeling I would probably be a little disappointed.
