my interview with One Night Only posted by

For my last couple of entries I’ve been serving up your own hot treats, so this time round, I’m going to introduce you to my fave UK band who I think you might love a little bit too. They’re cute to look at and make great music that will have you rockin’ your air-guitar, meet One Night Only. Swoonville.
Describe the ONE NIGHT ONLY sound?
Hefty!
Where were you when you first heard One Night Only on the radio?
We were recording the album, we had taken a break to eat our tea when Zane Lowe played “You and Me” - we all tried to be cool, but it was pretty amazing, especially as we hadn’t even finished recording the album yet!
What was the first record you ever bought?
I know you want me to say something embarrassing, but it really wasn’t. It was The Libertines “At The Bracket”. I was given the Spice Girls album first, but The Libertines was the first record I actually bought for myself - that’s quite cool, isn’t it?
What are you listening to and loving right now?
I just love “Fascination” by Alphabeat, what a tune! Also really like MGMT.
What’s the biggest perk about being in a band?
Getting to perform live and having people come to your gigs and sing along, there’s nothing quite like it. George (lead singer) and I (Jack) dropped out of college to pursue this, so it definitely makes the risk worth taking!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
My dad, who’s a musician too, told me that ‘the show must go on!’ It’s an old one, but it’s definitely true. If the fire alarm goes off, you’ve got to keep playing until the last person has left the building, no matter what happens, the show must always go on!
If you weren’t in One Night Only, what band would you like to join?
Being a keyboard player it would have to be something quite synth-like, so it’d have to be The Killers or Flaming Lips.
You’re going to be playing the festival circuit this summer, what are your festival essentials?
Believe it or not, last year was my first ever time going to a festival. The boys and I went to Leeds (a festival in the north of England) and it was immense. It was also my first time in a tent too, so I would definitely recommend making your tent identifiable. You really don’t want to come back from seeing your favourite band and end up in a random tent. I’d also say pack a night light and lots of batteries, I tripped over far too may things, too many times, not to have learnt that lesson!
Speed Round: What’s your favorite…
Food: Spaghetti Bolognese
Hangout: South Bank, London
City: London - I do love York, the place I’m from, but it’s far too quiet, London is cool!
Sport: I’m not really a sporty person, Curling?
Shop: Urban Outfitters
TV programme: Lost
Tell us a secret, Jack…
I used to be in a marching band and I played the trombone!
