Sad news in the world today… We’ve lost our beloved Golden Girl, Estelle Getty! Estelle, who played Sophia to sheer perfection on the Golden Girls, pasted away yesterday in her LA home due to severe dementia just three days before her 85th birthday.
Estelle’s former Golden Girls co-star, Rue McClanahan told the press “Don’t feel sad about her passing. She will always be with us in her crowning achievement, Sophia.” In honor or Estelle, Lifetime will air ten episode of the Golden Girls featuring the best of Sophia on Friday, July 25th. Get yer cheesecake and tissues ready. RIP Estelle, you’ll be greatly missed.
