Thursday 10:00am 10/25/12 Fright Film Flare: The Stuff posted by Kelly comment

Halloween gets me in the mood for B-horror movies. The streaming collection on Netflix always has some weird gems from the '80s, where underlying societal commentary is a part of the plot. The Stuff is no exception. A man discovers a delicious white, ice cream-like substance bubbling from the ground, and with a slick marketing campaign, The Stuff becomes a nationwide sensation.  A corporate saboteur hired by the failing ice cream industry to discover the secret to The Stuff, but he discovers this seemingly miraculous treat ("no calories!") has a deadly effect - it turns consumers into zombie-like addicted to The Stuff. A young boy is the only one in his family who sees The Stuff for what it really is, but they won't take no for an answer when it comes to eating The Stuff:

If you're getting a little tired of werewolves and vampires, The Stuff will satisfy your craving for a cheesy horror movie without those classic antagonists and with a healthy dose of corporate espionage. As for me, I think I'll just stick with some Space Ice Cream for dessert.

What movies get you in the Halloween spirit?
