**TWENTY-TWO AND JADED ALERTZ** Following Kate’s departure last week, another fan fave is asked to leave (noooooo!) It’s an episode of firsts for Johanna when the fashionistas do a mini model casting, interview designers, style a runway show and later – when attempting what only Anne can do – learn a valuable lesson: edit, edit, edit.

The final four meet at Elite Models. Their Assistant Task is to cast a model for a Zac Posen shoot. Ashlie squeaked – Zac’s her everything! They’re given identical gold dresses. Anne will decide the winning look. Johanna goes slim with contrasting black hair. Megan’s thinking tall and curvaceous will give form to the shapeless dress. DyShaun looks for a skin tone to flatter. And Ashlie thinks outside the box (?) with petite pear-shaped. Anne says Zac’s is a body-conscious story. The winner is… Megan! As the winner of the Assistant Task Megan gets to choose the teams for the Editorial Challenge: Creating a New Designers page. Be careful – you’re in Anne country. She does these for the pages of ELLE herself. Megan puts Ashlie and DyShaun on Team 1, taking Johanna for her Team. DyShaun’s hurt that his bestie didn’t pick him.
At the showroom, the fashionistas are told they’ll produce a runway show of their chosen designer. They meet Laila Azhar, Fremont, Falls, Jolibe, Richard Ruiz, and Lewis Cho. Megan walked in wearing Lewis Cho, but felt they’re too known. Both teams LOVE Jolibe, who decide to collaborate with Team 1. Team 2′s second pick is Richard Ruiz. Back at ELLE, Team 1 take all the good shoes from the ELLE closet (these shoes rule!) On the runway, Team 1′s make-up is inspired by 80′s Boy George – Anne loves it. At Team 2′s runway show Joe loves the dresses but not the footwear (these shoes suck!) At ELLE, DyShaun reminds photo editor Ashlie to edit. In the Editorial Meeting, the judges – including Guest, Zac Posen – think Team 1′s copy is messy and the page unfocused. But Anne loves their title (The Alchemist) and Joe their graphic layout. Judging Team 2, Anne didn’t like their runway styling, but feels their layout redeemed them. She hates (hates!) their headline though. Zac wanted a close-up of Ruiz’s printed fabric. The winner is… boring yet well edited Team 2! Team 1′s photo editor didn’t edit. Ashlie’s given a cardboard box to pack her desk.

i have to admit, i was really rooting for team #1 (Dy & Ash). i want megan to NOT WIN so bad. she is talented but just plain nasty, she’s got a lot to learn, actually. for someone who works with magazine (and ELLE) editors everyday, johanna is my #1 pick to take home the job. GO JO. great recap SJ, LOVE/LOVE the kelly reference!… OMG, shews.
comment by Chris — December 12, 2008it would’ve been neat if ashlie could have stayed – and won – especially since she won the first assistant task…i love it when that happens on reality competition shows. it was cute how johanna got all melty over the jolibe collection. johanna + jolibe 4evah.
comment by sarah — December 12, 2008I totally want Johanna to win this. did you ever follow her blog? aseriousblogisnoexcuse.blogspot.com
it is awesome, and her writing on their is sharp and witty and she has awesome taste.
dyshaun is really good at coming up with clever titles (every week!) but not that much else…
comment by kristen — December 13, 2008i didn’t read her blog b4 the show started. i’m a little conflicted… i fear a career in fashion would kill johanna’s love of clothes. and that would b sad – sadder than megan’s parents. on the other hand- if johanna does win, it’d b a great (dc fashion blogger) cinderella story
