**YOU COMMIE HOMO-LOVING SONS OF GUNS ALERTZ** Thanks for that Sean Penn! Didja’ll stay up ’til midnight to catch the entire Slumdog Millionaire show? Believe it or not, Keith and I actually tuned in for the entire 4 hours. Well, we cheated a bit. We taped it and then watched some eps from Season 1 of Damages. Then we’d tune in to the O’s and fast forward the boring stuff. It was Keith’s idea and I think it’s jeanz… Very efficient. Well, I have to say, even tho it was still 4 hours, I LOVED IT! Hugh Jackman was extraordinary! I’m more in love with him than I was before. And I totes gave Anne Hathaway a point for jumpin’ up on stage for that Frost/Nixon number with Hugh Hunk! Best speech was by Dustin Lance Black for writing Milk‘s screenplay. He’s cute AND made me whale when he told all us gays that we’re beautiful! Notice how all the cuties worked on Milk?!? LOVED Penelope Cruz and Kate Winslet‘s wins. Was totes rooting for them both! I really liked all the previous winners announcing the nominees. I thought the women did way better tho. But Keith really missed the clips of their performances… He’s a purist! And then when Heath Ledger won for Best Supporting Actor, my heart broke in a thousand places. Seriously, I needed an entire box of tissues! And then there’s Hugh’s number with Beyonce AND Zanessa… The Musical is back baby… HAWT, HAWT, HAWT! For the complete list of winner, click here!

I have to say that I felt really awkward watching the musical numbers. I don’t really know why (except for the “musicals are back” one when Beyoncé’s firecrotch leotard was so distracting). There were a lot of awkward moments during the show…but then there were some absolutely hi-lair moments, like “Joaquin”, the Seth Rogan/James Franco bit, and the Man on Wire dude. I think the best were the tearjerker bits. I was thisclose to crying during Dustin Lance Black’s speech, seriously. What a guy. And then when Heath Ledger’s family accepted his award I came undone. When Sean Penn’s speech came around I was a mess, pretty much smiling and crying at the same time. Holy crap. What an evening. xoxo, Bee

It was mostly a fun, entertaining show! The presentations by former winners were so great, and I really enjoyed most of the winners’ speeches. I was not a big fan of the “behind the scenes of making a movie” deals, and the musical number, despite Beyonce, did nothing for me. It seemed so disjointed. But overall I liked the show and hope they continue to cut to the chase in upcoming years.
