The fashion world has been knocked on its face by Tavi, the 13 yr old “IT” girl! We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this icon-in-the-making and we’ve been lucky enough to score an interview with her. We defs have a TON of questions on our end, but what do YOU guys wanna know? I’m gonna pass your questions on to Tavi and I’ll post the best ones and the ones that get posted, will WIN a $50 gift certificate. You have some time, and I’ll remind you, but she’s so amazing, I don’t want to miss a single thing. (I’m sure Charlie has some questions!) Anyhoo, if you want to see more of Tavi, check out this AMAZING Rodarte video, you’ll be so jealous/inspired!
She’s adorable, I’ve never heard of her before! My question is Who is your dream designer to work for..?
comment by Jade — December 9, 2009Tavi! The whole world adores you and your vast fashion knowledge and sense. However, you are comparatively young. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
comment by ashley savage — December 9, 2009Tavi is awesome!haha I have two questions for her.
comment by Jessica Bondarczuk — December 9, 2009n1.Somehow I can see that you have some kind of taste in crazy-magical-imaginary stuff. I’d like to know what’s your references, not in the fashion world but things like books, bands, all that.
n2.You seem to be like ABSURDLY intelligent, serious, I was stupid at your age. I’d like to know, are you doing good at school?
Well, that’s it! xo
I love Tavi! How did your love for high fashion begin?
comment by Pam — December 9, 2009I love her!
comment by katpat — December 9, 2009You should ask her : Do you ever get frustrated with the fashion choices of her fellow schoolmates?
I love Tavi! She’s so young yet she is such an inspiration! Not to mention she strikes me as an exceedingly smart girl. And I LOVE her fashion sense (of course!). My question for Tavi is: Who are your biggest inspirations, not only in fashion, but in daily life? What inspired your love for fashion, and has this been a lifelong love? It amazes me that such a young girl has such a sense of style. When I was her age I lived in shorts and T-shirts. The pictures are embarrassing.
comment by haley — December 9, 2009Tavi. I love her blog, her style, and most of all her humor! Seriously love it!!!
comment by Jaime — December 9, 2009I wish I was as insightful and witty as a young teen. I love reading about her daily life at school and then her fabulous days filled with fashion and celebs!
I would ask Tavi, “I know you like to rework your clothes but do you have aspirations on becoming a designer?”
I wish I was as cool as Tavi when I was her age. I would like to ask her this: If you were a fabric, what fabric would you be? and Where would you rather go? Paris or Milan?
comment by Luis — December 9, 2009Oh my I LOVE her! She’s so adorable adn awesome! My question is: How would you define your personal style? Do you draw from current fashion trends or do you go off of what “feels right” or that catches your eye?
comment by Maggiemaemary — December 9, 2009I adore her because she’s not afraid to wear what she wants to wear. I remember being 13 and being scared to wear something different from the jeans and t-shirt uniform. Kudos to you Tavi for being original! My question: Do you think models are still relevant to selling fashion? Fashion mags and ad campaigns usually feature celebs. Will models ever be super again?
comment by Henny — December 9, 2009I am in love with those colorful poms-poms! Have any of your classmates insulted you because of what you wear? How do you feel about this?
And how do you think a young teen can stand out, even though she has to wear uniforms to school?
comment by Eryn — December 9, 2009So amazing! She makes me feel so unaccomplished at 16. ;_;
ANYWAY: “If you could blog on/be the spokesperson for any other topic, what would it be?”
comment by Sarah — December 9, 2009if you could choose one movie that represented/inspired your style what would it be?
comment by Care — December 9, 2009How do you think the fashion world would perceive you if you were 31 instead of 13?
comment by Tommy — December 9, 2009If you could have a robot, like any robot at all, what would it do for you? (This is a trick question. Everyone knows that robots will be the downfall of society. Robots and Dakota Fanning. <—those are synonymous, by the way…)
comment by megan — December 9, 2009How do you pick out what you are going to wear?
comment by Paulina Zepeda — December 9, 2009What is your favorite holiday to get dressed up for and why?
What is the best item of clothing you have ever recieved as a gift?
comment by Jess — December 9, 20091. What do your classmates think of your fashion sense? I know at first they thought it was kind of weird, but how about now that you’re going to fashion week and meeting designers? 2. Would you ever want to start your own fashion line? What kinds of clothes would you make? 3. Does school stuff ever conflict with your new “fashion life”? How do you work around that?
comment by gracie — December 10, 2009Is Tavi your real name or a nick name? Where are you from? Do you like to read?
comment by Gina — December 10, 2009Has anyone stopped you on the street? Has anyone who was previously mean to you sucked up to you now that you’re an ‘It Girl’? Also, how do your parents feel about your posting pics / etc. online? I know mine would freak! If you could have tea with anyone, dead or alive and ask them anything, who would it be and what would you ask? If you could work as anything in the fashion industry (designer, editor) what would it be?
comment by Cami — December 10, 2009I love that she’s not afraid to have fun, be herself and wear what she likes. More people need to do that!
My questions: If you could be a superhero, what would your superpowers be and why? What is your dream or goal in life? Can you list some of your pet peeves? Who’s your fav musician? What do you think is the most important part of a person’s outfit? What are you doing for the holidays?
I could go on and on, but I’ll stop there
comment by Hazel — December 12, 2009Okay, I have more. Sorry! I couldn’t resist! I’m just really curious about her. Here they are: What 5 things would you bring with you if you got stuck in an island? Could you give us a run-down of your day, from morning to night? Is there an inspiring quote(s) that has really stuck with you through life? Can you tell us about a really embarrassing moment you’ve experienced? What are some of your favorite books? What are some of your special quirks (e.g. being able to lick your nose)?
Ok, I’m done. For real this time!
comment by Hazel — December 12, 2009What is the story behind that music video of you floating around on YouTube titled “First Bass Music Video – The Go! Team – Huddle Formation.” How has you style changed since that filming? What caused such a change?
comment by caroline — December 17, 2009Wow, she is so inspiring! It makes me feel that if you stick to something you really want to do you can accomplish it. Her work really paid off!
comment by Tessa — December 19, 2009(1)At what age did you begin modeling?
(2)Did you ever dream of being where you are now? If not, what did you want to be?
(3)How were you discovered?
(4)Your name is super unique. What is the meaning behind it?
Tavi is seriously the coolest person ever. How do the other kids at school react to how you dress? How did your friendship with the designers of Rodarte develop? What do your family and friends think of your success? What is one item of clothing that you would really love to own, but don’t?
comment by Sasha — December 21, 2009Are you ever inspired by music? What do you love to listen to?
comment by Maggiemaemary — December 31, 2009if you did not have fashion to express yourself wirh, what would you then turn to?
What is your favorite physical feature about yourself?
how do your mom and dad influence what you wear? do their styles inspire yours?
the goodwill’s and salvation army’s in my hometown never seem to have anything good. do you think that being close to chicago means the pickings are better at the second-hand clothing stores you shop at? what is your advise on finding good outfits in these stores?
comment by Caroline — January 22, 2010When was the moment that fashion clicked? When did it become something you wanted to pursue and enjoy?
