Hey! I know Xmas is like tomorrow and you have LOTS of other things on your mind but I just wanted to check in about our plan to write a novel together in January. Have you had a chance to pick up the No Plot No Problem novel writing kit? We got some back in stock but you should probably pick one up locally this weekend. It’s Xmas break and New Year’s is like Friday so you could get a head start on this thing if you get it together this weekend.
The first step is posting your novel-writing promise on our new Flickr group. Just posted a blank one there if you want to use that or you could do what JillRp did and just add a photo of yourself promising to do this. (I love that, btw.) Right now it’s me, Mo and JillRp confirmed which is RAD and I know Bee and Jen and Ann and Tommy are in so that’s seven. I’m shooting for ten. Srsly, I need you on my team. Do it!
Jenny, did you get it via UPS? Worried I used the wrong address… Mom, are you game? You still have a copy of the book, yeah? And, Babe, pls pls pls? Your novel would be so amazing. I’d LOVE to do this with you. Anyone else from work? Bilgin? I know you’re probably so beat after this season but I really LOVE your writing… How ’bout you, Nicole? Jill? Sarah Jane? Mittens? Pls pls pls, Mittens. I REALLY NEED YOU ON MY TEAM.
And did I mention that there’s gonna be some kind of wild, wonderful secret surprise for all those who finish? Trust me, it’s gonna be GOOD. Remember when we had that charity brunch with Jonathan Adler and I promised an special celebrity guest? Dudes, it was totes friggin’ Parker Posey. I so don’t play. Am good on my word. Are you?
ALRIGHT im going to do it too expect a photo of me on flickr!
comment by oni — December 24, 2009i busted out of the house last night to just GET OUT because things had been so cagey all week with the snow, and i was headed to the thrift- JUST ME. and as i was precariously walking down my icy steps i saw a box that the ups man had left by our side door… what was this, i thought! and then i saw the sticker: fred flare hearts you.
comment by jenny — December 24, 2009i kind of squeaked and got into the car but decided that i would just pop it under the tree and wait till christmas. should i open it? i am game, just so you know.

This is exciting!! It’s hard for me to embrace the imperfection thing, so this could be a really good exercise for me in the new year. (I will try to post my picture when I get back to Nashville.)

Did this for the past two Novembers, and surely more to come- you should know that it’s grueling, but in the end, it’s totally worth it! Just remember, stay strong, keep going, and no matter what, DON’T EDIT, no matter how much you want to! Good luck!
