Oscar Night is the biggest night in Hollywood, but also arguably one of the biggest nights of the year for fashion. So let’s start with the good stuff! Naturally, the red carpet was filled with couture candy and I’d say many more hits than misses. My absolute favorite look had to be Carey Mulligan’s–head to toe I thought she appeared youthful and fresh in a whimsical Prada dress and shoes plus stunning chandelier earrings and a platinum bob. Marchesa seemed to be the star of the night, outfitting everyone from Sandra Bullock to Gabourey Sidibe. And though it was a little quirky, I loved Zoe Saldana’s frothy purple Givenchy gown with a super-sparkly bodice.

The night started off with a bang as the men of the evening, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, descended from the ceiling and came on stage holding hands. I thought they were great hosts, and had me cracking up all night long! Other great presenters included Tina Fey and Robert Downey Jr., and who could forget Ben Stiller dressed up as an Avatar character?

My favorite wins had to be Mo’Nique for Best Supporting Actress, Cristoph Waltz for Best Supporting Actor, and Jeff Bridges for Best Actor. They all had great, tear-jerking speeches. This Oscar Night also made history–Kathryn Bigelow was the first female director ever to win for her film Hurt Locker! As always, this was a totally special, glamorous night that was so much fun to watch. Check out all the winners here!
Yay! Great recap, Nicole! Missed it so thx for catching me up.
comment by Keith — March 8, 2010i loved carey’s head to toe look too
perf earrings, cute dress, perf shoes. she found a happy medium between long gown and anna wintour’s sug of going short. so cute!
comment by sarah — March 8, 2010I’ll be honest. No one really impressed me that much. I think that Cameron Diaz probably looked the best. The 80s John Hughes stars was my favorite part, but the hosts did not live up to their potential at all for me. I do want to see most of the nominated movies/performances, though. Great recap!
comment by Tommy — March 8, 2010Pretty dresses. I was bummed Angelina and Brad didn’t show this year. I love how crazyyy excited the pre-Oscar interviews get about them.
comment by Aubrey — March 9, 2010Miley looks gorgeous!
comment by Lua Davis — March 9, 2010Rachel McAdams looks gorgeous. Miley’s corset top in nude makes it look like a slip. She’s too young to pull it off.
