Lately I've been thinking a lot about the Wizard of Oz. That sounds weird, but it's true! Little things keep reminding me of it– there's a version of "If I Only Had A Brain" on Store Cute's iPod, and yesterday Bilgin & I were talking about lion and lamb costumes (don't ask) and I remembered when my brother played the Cowardly Lion in our school's production. I've even seen the actual ruby slippers in real life, when the Smithsonian had a touring exhibit that came all the way out west!

This Polyvore set is, obviously, based on Dorothy, but a grown up, moved to New York City Dorothy! The gingham Peggy dress is totally reminiscent of her movie look, but this is not a little girl's pinafore. Dorothy's a stylish gal and this dress reflects that. She's a city girl, now, so she's upgraded from a wicker basket to the key to fashion satchel, which is a great choice because it's chic, roomy, and also sturdy enough that you don't have to worry about a strap busting in the middle of Broadway.

Ruby slippers are all well and good, but since she can just take a taxi home, Dorothy rocks the accented Dita heels... but with a red pair of risky biz sunnies as a nod to her past shoe adventures. Finally, 'cause she's a country girl at heart, Dorothy wears the retro equine ring. It's a sweet accessory and a reminder of home.

So, what do you think? Did I nail it? Oh, and also: How awesome is the Wizard of Oz? Totally awesome, right?
