| Where do we start with Tim? He’s crazy smart, cute as punk pie, and possibly the fastest packer on the planet. He’s one of our SRP (Shipping, Receiving, Processing) Associates. He unloads the UPS truck, helps keep track of inventory and, of course, packs all your orders with loving care. His awesome music keeps the Hustlemania mood in the warehouse going through the busiest of times and his humor, well, cracks us up. Tim is tops!
What do you do at fredflare.com?
I am one of the main shippers, which means I pick and pack a whole lot of the orders that leave our warehouse each day. If your package arrives in beautiful condition and everything is wrapped all spiffy, that’s my doing. If not, well that’s someone else’s doing! In addition, I help check in all the incoming shipments and prepare all the various items from the iPod tote to the broken hearts pin pack for sale. On occasion, I’ll also do some modeling for the site. Ha!
So what brought you to NYC and into our world?
I moved up here to chase the dream of being a forensic psychologist. When you think psychology, you think New York. Seriously, though, the best school in the country for forensic psychology is John Jay College here in Manhattan so, when I finished undergrad studies outside of Philadelphia, I called up a friend here in Brooklyn and moved in.
So you’re going to be doing CSI, right?
Not exactly. I won’t be dealing with fibers and all that. Think more Jodie Foster in “Silence of the Lambs” and figuring out what makes the craziest of the crazy tick.
Has working here at fredflare.com given you any valuable psych. experience?
Everyone here is awesome and zany in their own way, including me. I have a blast here, though, and this group of eclectic characters – all with different styles, different tastes in music – definitely gives me a better understanding of myself. I could tell you some stories about some other jobs I’ve had, though…
Like what?
Well, I’ve worked with schizophrenics before – an adventure, to be sure – and also in a butcher shop all through college. Let me tell you, working in those places gave me a new view on what’s “normal behavior.” Though I can cut up and cook steaks and stuffed lamb chops like you wouldn’t believe! (Sorry, all you vegetarians…)
So what is one of your fave places to get eats in town?
The Five Spot in Brooklyn right on Myrtle Ave. They have some the best soul food this side of the Mason Dixie line. From blackened catfish to fried chicken to collard greens and homemade corn bread. I can’t say enough about how good this place is.
You are the chattiest boy we know. Ever thought of a career in show biz?
Actually, I did work as a DJ at a radio station for four years through college and was the “loud rock” director. I was up to my eyeballs in heavy metal and punk CD’s, which was fine for me.
Anything else to add?
Just remember the golden rule and a stranger is just a friend you haven’t met. For a great stuffed pork chop or lamb recipe, psychological profiling, or anything else for that matter, drop me a line at inventory@fredflare.com Thanks!
